Using the Enneagram to
awaken your true self

What is the Enneagram?

The Enneagram is a personality system with ancient roots, thought to blend influences from spiritual traditions, such as Sufism and early Christianity, with modern psychological insights. It gained prominence in the 20th century through figures like George Gurdjieff, who introduced its geometric symbol, and later Oscar Ichazo and Claudio Naranjo, who integrated psychological dimensions and developed the nine personality types.

How is the Enneagram Used in Coaching?

In our work together, I’ll use the Enneagram to help you uncover the deeper patterns and motivations that shape your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. By exploring your unique Enneagram type and instinctual subtype, we’ll identify your strengths, challenges, and growth opportunities. This process isn’t just about gaining self-awareness—it’s about learning how to shift unconscious patterns and align with your authentic self. My goal is to support you in creating meaningful, lasting transformation and living in alignment with your highest potential.

The Enneagram Types

  • Type 1

    The Reformer

Principled and driven by an inner sense of right and wrong, Type 1s strive to improve themselves and the world. They can be self-disciplined and hardworking but often struggle with self-criticism and an internal pressure to achieve perfection.

  • Type 2

    The Helper

Motivated by a deep desire to be loved and appreciated, Type 2s are empathetic and generous. They are attuned to the needs of others but may suppress their own needs in an effort to gain approval or avoid rejection.

  • Type 3

    The Achiever

Success-oriented and adaptable, Type 3s seek validation through achievement and recognition. While they are often ambitious and efficient, they can lose touch with their true self by over-identifying with their image or accomplishments.

  • Type 4

    The Individualist

Creative and introspective, Type 4s value authenticity and emotional depth. They often feel unique or different but may struggle with envy and a sense of being incomplete or misunderstood.

  • Type 5

    The Investigator

Curious and analytical, Type 5s seek knowledge and self-sufficiency. They are deeply private and may retreat to conserve their energy, sometimes struggling with detachment or a fear of being overwhelmed by demands.

  • Type 6

    The Loyalist

Dedicated and security-conscious, Type 6s are focused on finding safety and stability in a complex world. They are loyal and cautious but may struggle with doubt, anxiety, or indecision as they seek reassurance.

  • Type 7

    The Enthusiast

Optimistic and adventure-seeking, Type 7s are driven by a desire for freedom and pleasure. They are energetic and visionary but may avoid pain and commitment, sometimes becoming scattered or overindulgent.

  • Type 8

    The Challenger

Bold and assertive, Type 8s seek to maintain control and avoid vulnerability. They are protective and decisive but may come across as confrontational or overly intense in their efforts to assert their power.

  • Type 9

    The Peacemaker

Easygoing and harmony-seeking, Type 9s prioritize maintaining peace both internally and externally. While they are adaptable and supportive, they may struggle with inertia, complacency, or losing themselves in others’ priorities.

  • The Enneagram goes beyond behaviors and focuses on core motivations, fears, and desires, offering a deeper understanding of why you do what you do and how you can grow.

  • While your core type remains the same, growth and life experiences can influence how your type expresses itself, allowing you to evolve into a healthier version of yourself.

  • Not at all! Part of the journey is discovering your type, and I can guide you through this process to ensure you find the type and subtype that resonates most with your experience.

  • The Enneagram is not just a tool for self-awareness but a path for spiritual growth. It reveals the barriers to living authentically and helps you reconnect with your true essence, aligning with your higher self.

  • By uncovering your unconscious patterns and core fears, the Enneagram opens the door to deeper self-awareness and spiritual transformation, helping you move beyond ego-driven behaviors and live more fully in alignment with your soul's purpose.
